What is Strata
A clear answer, and the record behind it.
Strata answers questions about your city’s budgets, ordinances, minutes and contracts in plain language — and shows you the page the answer came from.
The problem
Your city already published the answer.
Cities publish an enormous amount: agendas, packets, minutes, budget books, ordinances, contracts, staff reports. It is all public, and almost none of it is usable in the ten minutes before a vote.
The question an official actually has — what did we decide last time, what has this cost so far, what did we promise — is usually answerable. It is just spread across four websites, nine years and several hundred PDFs.
What Strata does
Reads the record. Answers the question. Shows its work.
Strata reads what your city has already made public and answers questions from it, in the language you asked in. Every claim in an answer carries a citation to the exact page it came from, shown beside the answer, so you can confirm it before you repeat it in a meeting.
It draws only on your city’s own documents — not the open internet, and not another city’s records. When the record does not contain the answer, Strata says so instead of guessing.
What it is not

It is not a records system
Your city keeps its records where it keeps them. Strata reads what is already published and adds nothing for anyone to maintain.
It is not a decision-maker
Strata prepares the ground. The vote, the discussion and the judgment stay exactly where they were.
Why the citation matters
An answer you cannot check is an answer you cannot use.
An official who repeats a figure in public is accountable for it. That is the whole reason Strata shows the page rather than only the answer — not as a feature, but because an unverifiable answer is useless to someone whose name is attached to the decision.
Every answer includes citations. Every citation opens the actual page of the actual document. If the record cannot support a claim, Strata does not make it.
